Frank in the Local Community

I have always put great value on the huge contribution made by volunteers and community activists throughout our local area. I have always tried to lead from the front by being involved in as many voluntary activities as possible. These have typically included Macra na Feirme, Turloughmore GAA, Camogie, Lackagh PTAA, Lackagh Museum, Ladies Gaelic Football, Family History, Pastoral Council and others. On this page I hope to promote a range of events that have occurred in the locality or are being planned into the future.

Kearney Family Reunion

Frank at Kearney Family Reunion 2012

Having a long involvement in family history, a decision was made back in 2007 to hold a Kearney Family reunion 5 years later in the village of Lackagh. Our family of Kearneys have been deeply rooted in the parish as far back as 1770, and on a weekend in July 2012 over 300 Kearney family descendants travelled from the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Chile and many parts of the UK. The attended a family reunion which spanned 3 days and yielded a major boost to the local economy. Many other communities around the country had similar events the following year for the Gathering.

Old Graveyard Restoration

In conjunction with a energetic team of volunteers, Frank was heavily involved the restoration of the Old Cemetery at Lackagh. He warmly complimented the leadership given to this project by a group of dedicated people. He complimented the people from various villages throughout the parish who gave their free time towards enhancing a place which is very special to many families.
